The moments worth capturing. Why maternity photos matter.

There are certain seasons in life that seem to move slowly while we're living them, yet somehow feel like they passed in an instant.

Pregnancy is one of those seasons.

Your body is changing. Your family is growing. You're imagining the little person you're about to meet and wondering what life will look like once they arrive. And in the middle of all of that anticipation, it's easy to forget just how special this version of you is.

That's why I love maternity sessions. Maternity photography isn't just about documenting a growing belly. It's about capturing the beginning of a story.

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “When should we schedule our maternity session?”

I generally recommend planning your session somewhere around 28–34 weeks of pregnancy.

This window often allows your belly to have that beautiful, unmistakable pregnancy shape while you're still feeling comfortable enough to move around, walk, and enjoy the session.

Of course, every pregnancy is different. Some moms may feel fantastic at 34 weeks, while others may prefer to schedule a little earlier. If you're expecting multiples or have been advised by your doctor to deliver early, you'll want to plan accordingly.

The goal isn't to find a magic number on the calendar. It's to capture you during a season when you feel beautiful, connected, and ready to celebrate this incredible chapter.
