South Ponto Beach in Carlsbad
This little beach area is often overlooked but it's one of my favorites. I like the trail that leads up to the beach that includes some greenery and the cliffs area that can add a varitey to your photos. Lately it has been rocky close to water but we are still usually able to get some sandy areas for photos near the water.
La Jolla Scripps Pier
I like this beach because since the pier extends pretty far in, we are still able to get photos under the pier even when the tide is high. This beach also offers cliffs and lots of sandy areas. The only downside to this beach location is the parking. It could sometimes get pretty crowded but to me, it's all worth it!
Carlsbad Cliffs + Terramar
Carlsbad Cliffs and Terramar are pretty close to each other. The cliffs area is ideal for a couple and single portrait sessions. Not sure I would feel safe with little ones running around in this area. Terramar is a little walk away but can only be accessed if the tide is low. When it is, there is a stairway that leads to beautiful cliffs with green moss and high rock areas. This location is popular for surfers!
